40 Under 40

I was just awarded a tremendous honor by the writers of Connect Magazine, published by Collinson Media & Events.  Along with thirty-nine other deserving industry colleagues, the magazine bestowed on me a listing among the “40 Under 40” in the meetings industry.  This feature recognized forty emerging leaders in our industry with forty different success stories.

I’m exceedingly proud to be listed among this esteemed group, many of whom I know.  And I’m thrilled to have an opportunity to mix and mingle with the many more whom I’ve not yet had the privilege of meeting.

My career in hospitality has admittedly been one of great fortune.  I was lucky enough to choose the right hotel in Boston to start my career, the then Regal (now Millennium) Bostonian Hotel, where I was given the opportunity to find the right career track for myself.  I then made the auspicious decision to take my show on the road to Washington where I could better dedicate myself to the government market that I had learned to love in Boston.  Working for Kimpton was a blessing too, as I could essentially run a business within a business for people I believe are marketing geniuses and whose management style complemented my work ethic and personality.  And then I made another solid decision to leave while I was on top of my game and loved my job, to seize the moment and explore the entrepreneurial realm.  My leaving in 2007 was the ideal time to start my business and I’ve enjoyed four years of growth and success since then.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank everyone who has smoothed the path for me along the way and I thank Collinson Media & Events for recognizing the path I’ve charted.  I’m humbled by the designation.
