Just a year ago if I were staying here I’d be staying at the Crowne Plaza Silver Spring! Now fully refurbished from top to bottom this brand new Sheraton serves the Silver Spring community and all of metro Washington well. A short hike to the metro gets guests to and from the District, but the hotel also offers a courtesy shuttle on demand. That’s an excellent feature on cold days like the ones I spent at this fine hotel.
The lobby has been completely reimagined – it’s now much more open. The lobby is connected to the bar is connected to the meeting space and it flows quite well. This was done by adding their signature Link with complimentary work stations and internet access as well as adding a lot of comfortable overflow seating just outside the confines of their lobby bar. The desk staff is very courteous and they seem genuinely excited about their completed renovations.
Guest rooms are now complete with cozy Sheraton Sweet Sleeper beds. The hallways have been refined and feature that sweet Sheraton smell.
I was afforded a suite which meant a separate living area from my guest room. Judging by the size of the guestroom portion, even a standard room is oversized compared to the average. Rooms are well appointed and none too far from the elevator.
The quirky shape of the exterior is memorable but the guest rooms aren’t infringed upon at all. If anything, there’s an added character in some of their meeting space with a rounded feature, ideal for social functions.
If Silver Spring is on the radar for a meeting, the now totally redesigned Sheraton should surely be under consideration!
