{"id":658,"date":"2012-10-08T14:43:38","date_gmt":"2012-10-08T14:43:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hotel-lobbyists.com\/blog\/?p=658"},"modified":"2012-10-08T14:43:38","modified_gmt":"2012-10-08T14:43:38","slug":"nice-to-see-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/hotel-lobbyists.com\/index.php\/2012\/10\/08\/nice-to-see-you\/","title":{"rendered":"Nice to See You!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-659\" title=\"hug2\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/hotel-lobbyists.com\/hl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/hug2-269x300.jpg\" \/>We all do it.\u00a0 And we all vow to get better at it.\u00a0 But it\u2019s a force of human nature to be unable to hold onto names the moment we\u2019re introduced.\u00a0 It happens to me all the time.\u00a0 I will be shaking the hand of a new person and being oriented with their name simultaneously; but unless I make a concerted effort, I will more often than not, forget said new person\u2019s name the moment our handshake breaks!\u00a0 How does that happen?<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->And to cover, I\u2019ve unfortunately invented a poor alternative.\u00a0 I have caught myself making the assumption that I\u2019ve already been introduced and will often times, err on the side of hugging versus handshaking if someone\u2019s visage is even half familiar to me.\u00a0 I know I\u2019m not the only one who employs this poor strategy because it proved unworthy recently at a conference I attended in New Orleans.<\/p>\n<p>Both I and the person I was greeting each went in for the hug and adorned it with the common and friendly small talk greetings.\u00a0 Upon our entrance to the second paragraph of our dialogue, when the other person asked casually, \u201cSo how\u2019s Florida treating you?\u201d I realized that not only had she mistaken me for someone else, but I had done the same.\u00a0 And there\u2019s no getting out of it!<\/p>\n<p>In the future, the use of the phrase, \u201cNice to see you,\u201d when accompanied by a handshake, will be the safest approach.\u00a0 Because if indeed it is only the first introduction, who can dispute whether or not one is indeed happy to see the other?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We all do it.\u00a0 And we all vow to get better at it.\u00a0 But it\u2019s a force of human nature to be unable to hold onto names the moment we\u2019re introduced.\u00a0 It happens to me all the time.\u00a0 I will be shaking the hand of a new person and being oriented with their name simultaneously; [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[2,1],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.3 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Nice to See You!
