{"id":1968,"date":"2013-09-23T11:28:23","date_gmt":"2013-09-23T15:28:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hotel-lobbyists.com\/hl\/?p=1968"},"modified":"2013-09-23T11:28:23","modified_gmt":"2013-09-23T15:28:23","slug":"living-in-the-future","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hotel-lobbyists.com\/index.php\/2013\/09\/23\/living-in-the-future\/","title":{"rendered":"Living in the Future"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A couple of weeks ago I had an odd experience which my friend summed up rather eloquently when he said it felt like we were &#8220;living in the future&#8221;.\u00a0 Never before had I more felt like I was indeed living in the future than when I attended a close friend&#8217;s wedding and saw a number of folks I hadn&#8217;t seen in nearly a decade or even back to my college years &#8211; and found suddenly we all had kids, some of us one, some of us more than one.<\/p>\n<p>But let me clarify &#8211; I had seen these friends.\u00a0 I just hadn&#8217;t seen them in person.\u00a0 In the age of Facebook, I have kept incredibly up to date on the ongoings in each of these friend&#8217;s lives.\u00a0 So although I hadn&#8217;t been in the same room with them in quite some time, it sure felt like I had.\u00a0 It felt like college was just a couple of years ago, and not sixteen years ago as it were.\u00a0 It felt like I had just seen them.\u00a0 But the last time I saw all of these people, we were just wee young adults and now we were all families!\u00a0 In that way it very much felt like we had jumped into the future to see what our lives were going to be like, not what they were like now.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m thankful that part of this feeling reminded me of our youthful spirit.\u00a0 We still feel very much like we&#8217;re just fresh out of college when in fact, I began my freshman year more than half my life ago.\u00a0 Crazy as it sounds.\u00a0 The future looks bright though, in many many ways.\u00a0 Glad to be here after all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A couple of weeks ago I had an odd experience which my friend summed up rather eloquently when he said it felt like we were &#8220;living in the future&#8221;.\u00a0 Never before had I more felt like I was indeed living in the future than when I attended a close friend&#8217;s wedding and saw a number [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[2,1],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.3 -
