Echo?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hotel-lobbyists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/lonely-puppy.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-348\" title=\"lonely-puppy\" src=\"http:\/\/hotel-lobbyists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/lonely-puppy-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>Hello?\u00a0 Anyone home?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This has been the slowest month in fifty one months in business.\u00a0 There have been numerous days over the course of the last four years and change where I\u2019ve had more leads in one day than I\u2019ve had in the last thirty.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Notice to suppliers.\u00a0 I\u2019m not ignoring you.\u00a0 It\u2019s slow right now for a number of reasons.\u00a0 For one, it always slows down to some extent in the summer.\u00a0 Secondly, I\u2019ve been on vacation and I adequately warned all my clients that I\u2019d have been relatively inaccessible for much of this month.\u00a0 But thirdly, and most poignantly \u2013 not sure who\u2019s noticed \u2013 but the government has pretty much gone out of business!<!--more-->Who would have thought when I focused my efforts and energies on the government, the most stable of all markets, the market who bailed out all the other markets in the eyes of hotels when the economy began to tank, that I\u2019d soon be searching for all my corporate accounts when the government went dark!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The truth is, government agencies are hard pressed to spend any more of their FY \u201911 dollars when in previous years they\u2019d be racing to make sure they didn\u2019t have a surplus at the end of the fiscal year.\u00a0 This time, fiscal prudence is likely being rewarded and possibly carried over to FY \u201912.\u00a0 Thus there isn\u2019t the same summer buzz for agencies looking to spend all of their money.\u00a0 Additionally, even for those trip and conferences deemed mandatory, agencies are looking critically at those who must travel and cutting those whose travel would have been nice.\u00a0 Groups are being cut in half or even thirds and stays are getting shorter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t a permanent trend but it\u2019s going to last longer than it has in previous years.\u00a0 Many of these trips and conferences are still necessary and will likely need to simply be booked in a shorter span of time.\u00a0 It could mean for a much busier end of 3<sup>rd<\/sup> quarter and 4<sup>th<\/sup> quarter than we\u2019ve seen in recent years.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It better mean that.\u00a0 I hope it means that.<\/p>\n<p>Hello?\u00a0 Anyone home?<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello?\u00a0 Anyone home?\u00a0 This has been the slowest month in fifty one months in business.\u00a0 There have been numerous days over the course of the last four years and change where I\u2019ve had more leads in one day than I\u2019ve had in the last thirty.\u00a0 Notice to suppliers.\u00a0 I\u2019m not ignoring you.\u00a0 It\u2019s slow right [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[2,1],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.3 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Hello?
