{"id":523,"date":"2012-03-26T13:32:19","date_gmt":"2012-03-26T13:32:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hotel-lobbyists.com\/blog\/?p=523"},"modified":"2012-03-26T13:32:19","modified_gmt":"2012-03-26T13:32:19","slug":"new-associate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hotel-lobbyists.com\/index.php\/2012\/03\/26\/new-associate\/","title":{"rendered":"New Associate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-524\" title=\"DSCN7003\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/hotel-lobbyists.com\/hl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/DSCN7003-225x300.jpg\" \/>Hotel Lobbyists is pleased to announce the appointment of a junior associate, who is quickly working his way up to being a full fledged partner.\u00a0 Meet Riley, our 18lb bichon frisee who spends more time at Hotel Lobbyists headquarters than even the firm\u2019s founder, Brett Sterenson.\u00a0 His enthusiasm for coming to work, his ability to work well with the President of the company, his thoughtful companionship and occasional licking of the owners hand, has made this eager young (56 years in people years) pup a sure fire future leader in our industry.<!--more-->It is rather amazing, the life of Riley.\u00a0 As I\u2019m having breakfast in the kitchen, Riley is ready to get into action, often beating me to my desk.\u00a0 Though I use the more traditional upright seated position, Riley does his best work when curled up at my feet or just off to the side blocking my primary cabinet.\u00a0 Riley has successfully gotten over his once irrational fear of my printer, who, in all seriousness, does sporadically choose to recalibrate and clean itself without any prompting.<\/p>\n<p>About twice a day, I break from my position at the desk and take my junior associate for a walk.\u00a0 Given all the challenging hotel negotiations of the morning, it\u2019s easy to explain why Riley likes to mark his territory around the neighborhood and sniff the grass and weeds for a half an hour.\u00a0 Then, when we return from the walk, we like to spend a few minutes wrestling on the carpet where I rub his jowls until he makes a very special groaning noise.\u00a0 This is equivalent to a review and Riley lets me know often how much he enjoys working here.<\/p>\n<p>Riley is as loyal an associate as I\u2019m going to find.\u00a0 If I choose to move my portable office to the kitchen, Riley jumps up and runs to the kitchen table.\u00a0 How are we going to negotiate if we\u2019re in separate rooms.\u00a0 And should I choose to up and office from the couch, Riley races me to my seat.\u00a0 The biggest area of discontentedness, I would surmise, is when I choose to office from Starbucks, or worse, from Washington.\u00a0 When my luggage comes out, my junior associate can get very mopey.\u00a0 Still, upon my return, there\u2019s no better greeting in the world, and if he is to hold a grudge, it\u2019s not for much longer than an hour.<\/p>\n<p>Look out meetings industry!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hotel Lobbyists is pleased to announce the appointment of a junior associate, who is quickly working his way up to being a full fledged partner.\u00a0 Meet Riley, our 18lb bichon frisee who spends more time at Hotel Lobbyists headquarters than even the firm\u2019s founder, Brett Sterenson.\u00a0 His enthusiasm for coming to work, his ability to [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[2,1],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.3 -
