{"id":591,"date":"2012-07-02T16:53:32","date_gmt":"2012-07-02T16:53:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hotel-lobbyists.com\/blog\/?p=591"},"modified":"2012-07-02T16:53:32","modified_gmt":"2012-07-02T16:53:32","slug":"hotel-lobbyists-got-married","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hotel-lobbyists.com\/index.php\/2012\/07\/02\/hotel-lobbyists-got-married\/","title":{"rendered":"Hotel Lobbyists Got Married"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-592\" title=\"575731_388577827873792_1342159536_n\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/hotel-lobbyists.com\/hl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/575731_388577827873792_1342159536_n-297x300.jpg\" \/>On Sunday, July 1<sup>st<\/sup>, your friendly Hotel Lobbyist got married at the W Hotel in Washington, DC.\u00a0 The day was at least three decades in the making since I\u2019ve known my bride since her birth.\u00a0 It fulfilled a lifelong dream from several different perspectives.\u00a0 We got engaged on the coldest day in late December and got married just six months later, on the hottest weekend of the summer, proving that, above all whether phenomena, it can be done in such a short length of time.<!--more-->I must extend the most sincere gratitude for friends and family who went through some elaborate lengths to be at this event.\u00a0 Just two days prior to the wedding, the DC metropolitan area encountered a freakish storm, a massive cell which brought 80mph winds, torrential rain, and hail in some spots.\u00a0 Though most guests were not yet in the city by this time as we were, damage to Amtrak\u2019s rails had the plans of one of my guests from New York derailed, and one of my groomsmen coming from Charlottesville off track as well.\u00a0 But on the fly, my friend from New York cabbed from Penn Station to Laguardia and, using airmiles, got himself on the next flight to DC.\u00a0 My friend from Charlottesville, without hesitation, moved from the rail counter to the car rental counter and got himself four wheels to drive to DC.<\/p>\n<p>We enjoyed our fair share of last minute hurdles \u2013 just as most brides and grooms do.\u00a0 For example, about a month before our wedding, the W notified us that our catering manager, with whom we\u2019d built excellent rapport, was resigning her post.\u00a0 Though we had confidence in our new catering manager as she was neither new to the W nor new to weddings, we were understandably nervous about rebuilding rapport in under a month.\u00a0\u00a0 Four days before our wedding, when we were supposed to have our first direct conversation with our photographer, who previous to this point had learned of the details of our wedding only through the agency\u2019s comprehensive internet based organizer, we learned he\u2019d had knee surgery, could no longer walk, and thus would not be our photographer.\u00a0 As it turned out, the substitute photographer to whom we were assigned may have been our favorite vendor altogether!\u00a0\u00a0 Voila!\u00a0 And finally, our friend, the Archbishop, whom we\u2019d had notable rapport and were thrilled to have officiating our ceremony, notified us about a week before the wedding that he\u2019d be returning from Dallas via Charlotte that afternoon \u2013 arriving at BWI at 2pm, three hours before our ceremony was set to start.\u00a0 The commute to BWI could take anywhere from forty five minutes to a couple of hours \u2013 he had about an hour of play (for the plane to be delayed, or traffic) before we were having my friend marry us in a pseudo ceremony.\u00a0 You know the Archbishop did not disappoint!<\/p>\n<p>We were lucky on so many fronts!\u00a0 Were we to do it again, we\u2019d change very little.\u00a0 But you know what, we\u2019re not going to do it again!\u00a0 And that\u2019s the biggest relief in the world!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Sunday, July 1st, your friendly Hotel Lobbyist got married at the W Hotel in Washington, DC.\u00a0 The day was at least three decades in the making since I\u2019ve known my bride since her birth.\u00a0 It fulfilled a lifelong dream from several different perspectives.\u00a0 We got engaged on the coldest day in late December and [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[2,1],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.3 -
