{"id":653,"date":"2012-10-01T15:51:24","date_gmt":"2012-10-01T15:51:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hotel-lobbyists.com\/blog\/?p=653"},"modified":"2012-10-01T15:51:24","modified_gmt":"2012-10-01T15:51:24","slug":"hotel-lobbyists-booking-record","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hotel-lobbyists.com\/index.php\/2012\/10\/01\/hotel-lobbyists-booking-record\/","title":{"rendered":"Hotel Lobbyists Booking Record"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-654\" title=\"bs02064_\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/hotel-lobbyists.com\/hl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/bs02064_.gif\" \/>On this here, the first day of the fiscal year and also on the first day of my 37<sup>th<\/sup> year on Earth, I thought I would share with the world some statistical information regarding my company\u2019s booking record as I\u2019ve now been in business for sixty-six months.\u00a0 I\u2019m sure there are questions about where my booking are going. \u00a0And in an effort for full disclosure, here goes!<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->In the five and a half years since I began Hotel Lobbyists, I\u2019ve been able to place nearly a thousand groups total, and in every state except for South Dakota.\u00a0 Trust that the moment I\u2019m able to close a deal on a hotel in South Dakota I will sound the alarm of excitement so I might claim booking every state in the nation.\u00a0 And in addition to forty-nine US states, I\u2019ve also booked six foreign countries on a total of three continents \u2013 Canada, Ireland, Spain, Israel, Korea and Taiwan.\u00a0 Hotel Lobbyists is a global enterprise!<\/p>\n<p>In terms of targeted US cities, there\u2019s no question that Washington, DC will always possess the lion\u2019s share of my attention as my clients are still predominantly DC based government or non-profits and inbound groups are exceedingly common.\u00a0 To date, I\u2019ve booked roughly half of my groups in the District of Columbia, 479 to be exact \u2013 and if you add in Arlington, Alexandria and Bethesda, that number is actually 532.\u00a0 The remaining nine of my top ten destinations are Baltimore (39), San Francisco (24), Atlanta (21), Chicago (21), New Orleans (20), Seattle (19), Denver (17), Portland (12), and San Diego (12).\u00a0 I thought many would find this data intriguing.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of brand loyalty \u2013 it is my job not to play favorites.\u00a0 That said, I also don\u2019t intentionally spread business out amongst the brands.\u00a0 It will come as no surprise that my former employer, Kimpton, does get more than their fair share of my smallest groups, but this is almost exclusively because I was booking these very groups at Kimpton Hotels before I left and now I\u2019m continuing to book them in a different capacity.\u00a0 What\u2019s most interesting is that without deliberately trying to keep things even, things are incredibly even amongst the top national brands.\u00a0 In five and a half years, I\u2019ve booked 252 groups in Kimpton Hotels.\u00a0 But because these groups are small, the revenue total is less than that of the next two highest shares.\u00a0 The remaining major brands booked by number of groups are Hilton (111), Marriott (98), Starwood (78), Hyatt (61), and IHG (60).\u00a0 I\u2019ve also booked 120 groups at hotels I\u2019d classify as independent.\u00a0 As far as the smaller brands go, my top shares go to Omni (20), Affinia (18), Loews (17), Historic (16), and Fairmont (13).<\/p>\n<p>This is probably information that hoteliers might like to copy and paste into Delphi, no?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On this here, the first day of the fiscal year and also on the first day of my 37th year on Earth, I thought I would share with the world some statistical information regarding my company\u2019s booking record as I\u2019ve now been in business for sixty-six months.\u00a0 I\u2019m sure there are questions about where my [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[2,1],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.3 -
