Last week I spent several nights at the Sheraton Suites Old Town, a hotel just a few blocks the core of the Old Town Historic District, and which lays very much under the radar. It’s an affordable, comfortable, and business friendly place to lay one’s head. Close to shops and dining, but not in the thick of things, it becomes a really fine place for small to medium sized meetings since there’s little distraction in the immediate area.
The Sheraton’s lobby has been rejuvenated and is complete with The Link, Sheraton’s Signature amenity for savvy business travelers. There is free internet and work stations available, plus a number of quaint spots for small groups to convene before venturing out into Old Town itself. The hotel has a shuttle for the airport and metro as well as for local area runs on a first come first serve basis. They also have an onsite restaurant open for all three meals, though the restaurant is empty at lunch time and a good value at that time.
Rooms are where the Sheraton owns most all of their value. This is an all suite hotel so rooms are far more spacious and usable than standard hotel rooms. Even the most standard rooms is complete with a living room and small kitchenette, separated by French doors into the bedroom. Great for families traveling or business travelers who prefer not to do their work or unwind in their bedroom. Everyone feels like they get an upgrade when the rooms are all suites.
Overall, a very solid value in an expensive part of town. And for whatever reason, the hotel doesn’t get as much press as some of the other hotels closer to King Street. Yet their offerings are just as valuable and even luxurious.
